Suffolk Coastal Green Party is delighted to welcome Jenny Jones to Woodbridge, for our Open Meeting on 24th May 2017.

Jenny, the Green Party Member of the House of Lords, is coming to Woodbridge to speak at a public meeting about the proposed Sizewell C nuclear power plant.

The meeting will address the likely effects of the planned development on Woodbridge and the surrounding villages and countryside.

The discussion, “Suffolk, Sizewell C and the Environment”, will take place at the town’s Community Hall on Wednesday, May 24 at 7.30pm. Admission will be free to all, no need to book.

 Other speakers include Professor Andrew Blowers, Professor John Midwinter, and Regan Scott.

Among the issues that will be considered are:

  • the present state of EDF, the French company that intends to build and run the plant;
  • the real implications of lorry parks and possible workers’ camps in or near Woodbridge;
  • the likely years of traffic chaos on unsuitable roads;
  • and who will in the end pay for it all.

 A spokesperson for the Green Party said: “We urge people to come along to the event to learn more about what Sizewell C will really mean for the area. This development will undoubtedly affect us all. We believe a lot of people are unaware of the potential consequences and effects this will have on our lives.

 “We strongly believe that Sizewell C is the wrong plan at the wrong time – not suitable, not responsible, not necessary and not sustainable.”

Refreshments will be served, and there will be time for questions and discussion, and lots of opportunities for friendly chats and to find out more about your local Green Party, Tasc and Sage.
